Surface Power solar thermal systems demonstrate their outstanding performance over existing solar hot water technology on a daily basis.

In this performance update, we will discuss the following:

  • Today's weather at the location example we are using.
  • Performance Example from today 27th April.
  • FAQ: How we achieve this (within reason, our technology is proprietary).
  • If we built cars instead of solar collectors ?
  • If you are a solar installer you need to read this ?
TODAY'S WEATHER

Today's solar factor: Max 20%, Min 6%, average: 10%. What does this mean ? The solar factor is a measurement of the PERCENTAGE of solar energy delivered as being recorded by a reference grid connected photovoltaic system at the same location. i.e. (a clear sunny blue sky day will deliver a maximum value of 100% at noon).

TODAY: SOLAR FACTOR: AVERAGE 10%. (POOR)

PERFORMANCE EXAMPLE FROM TODAY

EARLIER THIS MONTH IN APRIL, WE PUBLISHED RECORD TEMPERATURES ACHIEVED IN EXCESS OF 90C IN CYLINDERS AND ITS ONLY SPRING SUNSHINE

EARLIER THIS YEAR WE PRODUCED LIVE DATA FROM WINTER SHOWING EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE EVEN IN POOR WEATHER

Now we look at today, poor weather again, dark cloud and a Surface Power solar system achieves 100% of its required cylinder temperature (S2 - 40C) by 11:45am (and its still producing energy).

Weather today: winds at 25 kph, cloudy, dark, showers and solar factor is averaging only 10%. Temp is a cool 12 C and feels like 7C with wind chill.

It is also only April and Ireland has a annual solar energy capacity similar to Northern Alaska.

11:45 am, 100% of Hot water achieved (300L)

FAQ ON OUR SOLAR COLLECTOR

FAQ SHEET ON OUR SP501 COLLECTOR: WHY IT OUTPERFORMS EVERY OTHER COLLECTOR BY SO MUCH ?

  • Simple; The SP501 has been designed differently to all other collectors, other manufacturers focus on light conversion efficiency, Surface Power focus on heat retention technologies and coupled with the systems operation software and configuration have developed a solar collector which works most efficiently in bad climates.
  • Why did we do this?, we did this to develop a super powerful collector for air conditioning and refrigeration, and this just means that if you also use it for hot water or heating systems, its super powerful even in poor weather.
  • Our collector works in conjunction with all the other components in the system to achieve this using a collector technology called DFNMT (WHICH WE DEVELOPED) which is not in any other collector on the market.
  • DFNMT allows Surface Power to run solar systems using MPPT (maximum power point tracking) which is used on Solar Electricity systems. MPPT maximizes the transfer of energy from one place to another and no other solar thermal collector that we know of is powerful enough to use MPPT. (We developed MPPT solar thermal control technology for air conditioning and refrigeration applications)
  • Also NOTE, "very important", Surface Powers SP501 solar collector is even powerful enough to use MPPT process technology in Ireland and in poor weather, which highlights its impressive performance.
IF WE BUILT CARS

WE DON'T BUILD CARS BUT IF WE DID THEY WOULD PROBABLY LOOK SOMETHING LIKE THIS !!

SOLAR CONTRACTORS & INSTALLERS

SOLAR CONTRACTORS & INSTALLERS !!!

  1. Did you know that we show case systems to future customers 12 months of the year ( that's because they work 12 months of the year). Our network of installers work 12 months of the year, DON'T BE EMBARRASSED ANYMORE WHEN A CUSTOMER ASKS YOU FOR A WINTER REFERENCE !!!
  2. We can design elaborate solar hot water & central heating systems.
  3. Our Installers can access direct design support through support@surfacepower.com 7 days a week.

In Ireland to receive a current price list, contact our master distributor Moritz Group, central warehousing M50 Dublin.
