EN12975:2006 - europe (2009)
The SP501 solar thermal collector has been tested against the most recent European Standard approved by CENLEC in 2006. Testing detail and performance is available on the technical pages of our website or is available from the SEAI's HARP Database. In addition, the SP501 is also registered in Ireland on the SEAI HARP database. see detail below. (always ensure you buy longlife high quality solar panels by using the HARP database). Whilst performance of the SP501 is superior over legacy collectors, this is only because it is a new long life solar technology called DFNMT designed for high power solar air conditioning. This means it gives extraordinary performance at solar hot water & solar central heating and the reason why Surface Power sells more solar collectors for installations in winter than it does in summer.
AS/NZS2712:2007 - new zealand & australia (2010)
The SP501 solar thermal collector has been tested against the most recent New Zealand / Australian solar standards approved in 2007. This gives the SP501 a significant advantage over legacy solar collectors, most of which have been tested against the old standard AS/NZS2712:1997. When deciding on a solar collector, always check the date of the testing standard used. The SP501 is excelling in the southern hemisphere even in deep winter where hot water temperatures of 45C to 55C are the norm on our entry level systems. Always ask for proof (evidence, data profiling versus weather) of winter performance before you buy any solar system. [OLD TECHNOLOGY FLAT PLATE & VACUUM SOLAR SYSTEMS WORK IN SUNSHINE, NEW TECHNOLOGY SOLAR PANELS SUCH AS THE SP501 WORKS ALL YEAR ROUND WITH A DESIGN LIFE OF 50 YEARS]
Performance Certificate No NZD030
Standard AS/NZS 4234:2008 (2010)
AS/NZS 4234 is a standard calculation methodology for assessing the expected energy performance of a solar water heating system under standard reference conditions of heat load, climate and system configuration. The calculations are undertaken with a TRANSYS™ computer simulation of previously tested performance of system components operating as a complete system for a full year. The final certified results below are after losses. They are the delivered solar hot water contribution available to the building.
No NZD030 (AS/NZS 4234:2008) 2010 certificate
Certified Result to AS/NZS 4234:2008 (government regulations)
Solar Cylinder Size 194L
SP501 area 1.9 sqm
Minimum simulated temperature 54C
Solar panel output per sqm 783 kWh/m2
Annual solar energy delivered to cylinder 1,488 kWhrs
Note: all values are delivered, i.e. after systems losses accounted for.

ENERGY STAR 2010 - Solar Hot Water - The Global Mark of Energy Efficiency

Surface Power's SP501 solar thermal collector has achieved the new New Zealand 2010 Energy Star rating for its outstanding system performance. Surface Power are one of a handful of company's in the world who have achieved this new 2010 standard of performance highlighting that the SP501 solar thermal collector is a new revolution in solar performance, and is now the most performance certified solar collector in the world.

QUOTE FROM ENERGY STAR: Because not all systems are equal !!; An ENERGY STARŪ qualified system will save more than 70% of your water heating costs, is backed by comprehensive warranties, and meets the latest water heating standards for design, construction, and energy performance.

SEAI HARP DATABASE - ireland & northern ireland
The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) run a database called the HARP. This stands for Home Heating Appliance Register of Performance. Surface Powers SP501 has passed the strict registration requirements of HARP which are managed by Gastec UK. Only 14 of the worlds best manufacturers of solar products have achieved this registration since early 2009. Most of the solar collectors for sale in Ireland are NOT on this list or have FAILED to get on this list. Always source the best quality solar panels by ensuring you buy legitimate and high quality solar products that are on HARP AND the GRANT list (on both lists). The SEAI HARP database is a public database and can be LOOKED UP HERE. (NOTE: HARP REGISTERED SOLAR PANELS ARE ALSO ON THE GRANT LIST), CLICK HERE FOR the regular solar panel GRANT LIST ONLY

IMPORTANT NOTICE: WHEN SOMEONE TELLS YOU THAT YOUR SOLAR SYSTEM WILL DELIVER [70% or 60% or some other value] OF YOUR ANNUAL HOT WATER, ASK THEM FOR THE PROOF.
