Tom,

A tube on a Surface Power system is changed like a lightbulb, can be completed easily, no installer required. There is no breach of the circuit as it is sealed. The job would take anyone about 1 minute to complete and a tube is somewhere between €10 and €20 should you ever need one but it is a very rare occurance if ever.

Hi,

Great great great post, I have direct flow collectors [3rd gen above] from (name removed) and whilst they don't seem to do the temperatures your collectors can get to, they are not as bad as some other systems I know and now I know why. I thought all vacuum collectors were the same.

I also rang up my supplier to get a price on a tube as the installer assembled my collectors when they were put in and he quoted me €180 for a new tube and €550 to fit it !!!! He said that the system will depressurise when he pulls out the tube so it will need to be refilled to get the air out and pressurised again.........I was not told this when I bought the system. This changes the deal completely.

How much does it cost to change a tube on a Surface Power system ?

Thanks, keep that info coming, T.Dunne.

Joe,

Yes, you can do it (subject to places) and it's the same deal. And you can use the credit notes to give your clients a discount as you are not an installler.

Hi,

I am an advisor and would like to do the course so I can reccomend "and understand" your systems. I have visted a couple of your systems from people I know and they are all extremely happy with the outcome.

But I am not an installer, can I do the course, and will it cost more if I am not an installer ?

Thanks, Joe C, Energy Assessor

We have the 10 panels heating/hot water combo installed 3 years. Don't really have to do anything, works just like the oil used to before BUT our oil bills have collapsed. We did the insulation as well, house is bungalow, windy site so all in all, we are buying about 400 euros worth of oil a year.

Still getting all hot water, 48C today weather miserable and raining and we didn't have to use the oil all summer even though the weather was typical of an Irish summer.

When do we need a service? or will we get a call, thanks for those newsletter, keeps in touch all the time and interesting stuff.

If I send you some recommendations for my friends, family, can I have the break in a hotel as well ?

Dearbhla...

I had the SP501 ( two units ) installed a year back with the obvious benefit of hot water and latent heat as it dis
sipates throughout the house. Our main gain is the abundance of hot water in the power shower. We have wall and attic insulation. The Sth facing kitchen shows 19.5 C in winter and 21.5 average summer. A one time high of 70 C was noted in the upstairs tank in summer
